'Found' Micropoetry
(From friends' emails)
as the sun rose
over their garden
his brother died
************
A crazy man
crashed into us – the end
of the Subaru.
A very fickle life!
Or a mad moon.
************
In Ballarat East
it’s quiet, it’s green.
I can walk
to the town centre.
I have a choir venue
and community garden.
************
************
I feel fulfilled and
free
but I need
a new obsession
Grief comes in great gusts
to blow you down.
to blow you down.
The things men do.
************
************
imagine your tongue
circling the rosy sunrise
of her nipple

I LOVE these SPECTACULAR found poems. Wow, you get some great emails. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThey are small excerpts from longer emails. But yes, my friends express themselves well, and memorably!
DeleteYou have used other people's words spectacularly! Impressive 'found poetry' in these words!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! it's a pleasure to read gems found in your mail!
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting exercise... hope it was a good way to break through writer's block!!
ReplyDeleteNot yet. I might have to progress to erasures next. But meanwhile I am still having fun with the findings.
DeleteThese are so good. Many great phrases here, including "grief comes in great gusts..." and "the rosy sunrise of her nipple".
ReplyDeleteFound poems can be so wonderful! :-)
These found pieces are so much fun. LOL, a good friend got me into Harlots recently and I've been enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very well done. Now you will recognise these lines when you hear them. (Smile.)
DeleteOh, Rosemary, this one hit home:
ReplyDelete'Grief comes in great gusts
to blow you down.
The things men do.'
These are such spectacular found poems, Rosemary!💞 Sigh .. I wish I received such emails where people expressed themselves poetically.
ReplyDeleteWhata delight it is to peep inside others minds as they write poetry. What a delightful selection you have found for us from your correspondence.
ReplyDeleteI feel fulfilled and free
ReplyDeletebut I need
a new obsession
Good to take this lead. It may open up lots of doors for ideas!

Wow, I love that nipple one. So obvious, and yet I've never considered it.
ReplyDeleteSome very good script writing in that show!

I love the found poems. There are poems everywhere in the world, if only we have eyes to see and ears to hear.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, and I must say you get interesting mails, but what a great way of writing poems... I think i must read some better books to get the best words.
ReplyDeletesome interesting friends you have. :)
ReplyDeletethe found micropoetry from Harlots are great.
ah to dip into the well of what is to hand - :D
ReplyDeletethese are little gems, and for as much fun as it is, it's also hard work - erasure poetry or cobbling poetry? is that a new term? it might be - I think I rather like it, perhaps we should trademark it?
I really like so many of them Rosemary - they are wonderful, and it reflects on a mind, a keen mind and sharp eye, one hungry to see and find, and create - to have been able to read through and pull so much from what are, obviously and as noted, wonderful emails/correspondences - and other sources.
Although it may not have helped with the full out break through of writer's block, at the very least, you're actively keeping your mind working, and letting the rest stew in the subconscious - and from here, I'm sure, the words will come to light, breaching the surface and flow.
"I feel fulfilled and free
but I need
a new obsession"
ohhh, yes! yes indeed!
Fascinating--snippets of e-mail work really well, tiny stories hatching everywhere :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent found poetry! Lits of fun and beauty in these. I din't watch much TV. I don't know about Harlots. I haven't even seen it advertised. I do live the new Doctor though!
ReplyDeleteWow! Stunning little micropoems … what treasures you have found!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant. The first one made me sigh, and when I finished reading... the word "naturally" danced around my mind. The last bit is a treat.
ReplyDeleteThese are so good. Enjoyed each one and one of my eyebrows went up when I read about that sunrise and nipple. Very hot!
ReplyDeleteI feel fulfilled and free
ReplyDeletebut I need
a new obsession
my favorite - I think a new obsession fills us with passion and the desire
to write.
I love this idea. I once made poems out of shopping lists. I especially love that last one!
ReplyDeleteI have never had anyone send me an email about rosy nipples....obviously I lead a very dull life:)Good snippets ...loved all of them.
ReplyDeleteOh, that was not from an email, lol; look again. It was directly quoted from the TV show 'Harlots'.
