We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

in this time ...

in this time

of wars and disasters

eclipsing other horrors

today’s rain and thunder

seems only fitting

I am glad to huddle indoors

sadly, to huddle indoors

only seems fitting –

today’s rain and thunder

not eclipsing other horrors:

the wars, the disasters

of this time

A double cherita, written for dVerse Meeting the Bar: A revisit with the Cherita. (The cherita is meant to tell a story; I hope this almost plotless piece qualifies!)

I am ...

I am Rosemary: pensive yet pungent.

I am ardent poet / sacramental healer /curious witch

lover of cats, trees and the ocean.

I am 81

and not out

yet.

A cherita for Day One of April Poetry Month, using both the Poetic Asides prompts and Kerry O'Connor's word list @skyloverpoetry on Instagram. (A cherita is traditionally untitled, but I like to use first line or part thereof to identify my untitled poems.)

Prompt: An introduction poem.

Words: pensive, pungent, ardent, sacrament, curious.

Self-Love on Valentine's Day

Self-Love on Valentine’s Day

I linger over smooth, dark chocolate

read love poems, reminisce ... and enjoy
a happy-ever-after movie on TV.

I give myself pink roses (traditionally
a symbol of friendship, not passion).
The pink have the sweetest scent.
