We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

... Since You've Been Gone

Lunching with old friends,

we spoke of you fondly.

‘Wasn’t he fun?’

‘Oh yes, and he had

the best laugh!’

Hard to believe it’s been

12 years already.

Written for Friday Writings #194 at Poets and Storytellers United, for 14 Words for Love on facebook, and for my husband Andrew, the anniversary of whose death was September 3rd.

Farewell, Col Joye ...

Farewell, Col Joye. Thanks

for songs I danced to

when we were both young.

Thanks, Col Joye, for the joy

which you named yourself for

and always gave.

(He was born Colin Jacobson.)

14 Words For Love is a facebook group (the number of words chosen because Valentine's Day falls on the14th). They don't have to be in verse, but I always try to do that.

(OK, this is 14 words twice over, but he deserves extra.)
