We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

... Since You've Been Gone

Lunching with old friends,

we spoke of you fondly.

‘Wasn’t he fun?’

‘Oh yes, and he had

the best laugh!’

Written for Friday Writings #194 at Poets and Storytellers United, for 14 Words for Love on facebook, and for my husband Andrew, the anniversary of whose death was September 3rd.
