Beautiful Words
(found haiku)
searching for fireflies
the first dream of the new year –
the moon freezes
plants are sprouting
under last year’s dried grass
or under snow
clouds
predict good fortune –
green shadows
sunlight filtering
through green leaves –
buried fire
Found haiku written in response to Weekly Scribblings #53: Beautiful Words at Poets and Storytellers United – using, rearranging, recombining, and occasionally slightly altering (by additions or omissions) the phrases in Rommy's prompt:
For this week’s prompt, I’ve selected a few poetic names from Bruce Hamana Sosei’s book, 100 Beautiful Words in The Way of Tea. Pick the English version of one (or more if the mood hits you) to shape your words around.
Zuiun – clouds that predict good fortune
Shitamoe – plants sprouting under last year’s dried grass or under the snow
Hatsuyume – the first dream of the new year
Uzumibi – buried fire
Ryokuin – green shadows (sunlight filtering through green leaves)
Hotaru-gari – go searching for fireflies
Tsuki-koru – the moon freezes
The way you have used all the words in haiku is very impressive...you're not just a pretty face Rosemary :)
ReplyDeleteThanks; not sure I am a pretty face at all, lol, so I'm doubly glad the haiku are impressive.
DeleteRosemary, your found poetry is looking great, I must go there again, soon.
ReplyDeleteThis one is full of hope for us tired of winter and for you guys entering spring. Those filtering clouds let us peep through to bettering times. We have them generally from nine to ten as the clouds coming in from the Gulf of Mexico, 75 miles away, dissolve into the atmosphere.
..
Thanks, Jim. I intended it would read as spring-like and hopeful; glad I succeeded. Here in Australia we are actually deep in summer, albeit a fairly cool and wet one where I live – but here too we hope for a much improved new era in American politics (which affect the world).
DeleteOH SO WONDERFUL ....pardon the caps, however I am shouting. I love writing and reading haiku ....
ReplyDeleteI don't mind shouting when it takes the form of compliments! Thank you.
