Words are marvels! Words on a tongue, or typed / inked:
written (pictured) as on a page or screen, see!
Words are the most miraculous musics; words sing
even when mute (apparently) – shown, not said.
Still we can hear, loud.
Written for Friday Writings #187 at Poets and Storytellers United: a celebratory poem in the form of a Sapphic ode.
Words are great things to celebrate! I like the written word best.
ReplyDeleteI do too! (Although words sung can be wonderful also.)
DeleteI too celebrate words - so your finally crafted verse is lovingly shared! Jae

DeleteWords are magic, make our moods
ReplyDeleteWords are lovey, make the cats purr
Words are a siren, make the dogs bark
Words are welcome, to any, come eat
..
Oh, very well said, dearJim!
DeleteI put this reply to my commenters, an update. But I had already commented here. Here goes,
Delete"p.s. (May bore you) Update on my story today. "I still have the car and drive it. We are Texas, they have classified it as a Texas Antique Auto meaning at least 25 years old and I don't drive or use it for work or school. Low insurance rates and I only have to renew its license once every five years."
Words are the pixie dust of life.
ReplyDeleteLovely thought!
DeleteWe couldn't be writers without words! What would we do? Nice use of the form.

Thank you!
DeleteWords can kill, words can heal. Words can be heard but misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteYes, the can be. I've left that off my little list. Others too I'm sure but misunderstood is a "winner that loses". Thank you.
DeleteYes indeed, to both of you.
DeleteI hear you loud and clear, Rosemary. :)
ReplyDeleteI must try that Sapphic ode one day.
I don't think I'll be loving it or using it often! (It feels to me a little like Gerard Manley Hopkins's 'sprung rhythm'.)
DeleteWords are wonderful magical seductive and dangerous.
ReplyDeleteYes – thanks be!
Deletewords are everything....it says the words you utter can move the universe...
ReplyDeleteI do like to think that's true.
DeleteBefore all else fails, use words for success! Good one, Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteThank you. (Perhaps we need to try words first?)
DeleteWords are really powerful
ReplyDeleteLet us hope so! (Or what are we poets doing?)
