I’ve loved you since childhood:
for your smooth skin, just a little
slippery; your flavour, fruity but
delicate; your fine white coat
of dusted sugar; your scent I
inhale and savour … More!
I'm sharing this with Poets and Storytellers United for Friday Writings #177: Comfort Food. Though I wrote this last month, it fits the prompt. Sweet things are my infallible comfort food.
Now I have a hankering for Turkish delight, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteAnd guess what? It's perfectly OK for my Vegan eating!
DeleteMouthwatering!
ReplyDeleteOh good, my work is done! :-D
DeleteOoh yes, the smell of Turkish Delight - sweet as your words - Jae
ReplyDeleteA love poem to your favorite dessert. And More!!
ReplyDeleteI like it!
Or is it an ood? Are love poems generally oods?
..
How I love to read such delicious poetry Rosemary! Aaaaah. How lovely!! And thank you so, so much for your beautiful comments on my poems. It was so interesting to know that you had visited Konark temple with your husband.
ReplyDeleteAh! I missed knowing of this Konark visit. I was in Bhubaneswar, Odisha this year.
DeleteI missed your Konark visit :(
ReplyDeleteJust learned of it now.
Odisha has lovely desserts- hope you had a chance to try them when you were here.
Sumana mentioned the temple in one of her poems, so I told her I had been there. It was back in 1998, when my husband was alive. I vaguely recall lots of good food, but my main delight was to try and identify places in Odisha from the family photo album. My Anglo-Indian (as n mixed race) grandmother lived there long ago, with her two children, my Uncle Ian and my mum, and with their English stepfather who was the only Grandpa I ever knew. They migrated to Tasmania when Mum was 15.
DeleteLove Turkish delight !
ReplyDelete*Smile.*
DeleteI learned not all Turkish delight is created equal. Some are absolutely scrumptious. Some are meh. It's totally worth seeking out the good stuff.
ReplyDeleteI must be very lucky; I've never encountered the inferior stuff.

ReplyDelete*Smiling back at you.*
DeleteSweets are my DOWNFALL! Love your sweet little poem, Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteHow come you aren't fat like me???
Delete*Giggle.* Yes I'm sure I'm not alone.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try that!
