Let’s out
into the day!
Spring is flirting with us.
Quick! Dance with her now, while that smile
stays warm.
At dVerse today, we are asked to write an American cinquain, the five-line form with a syllable count of 2-4-6-8-2, devised by Adelaide Crapsey early in the 20th Century.
Lovely poem.

Thank you!
DeleteA lovely reminder that your spring is arriving as our autumn is, Rosemary – and that in six months we’ll be swapping seasons! Time does fly, so we enjoy our seasons while we can.
ReplyDelete*Smile.*
DeleteYep, must say that's exactly what I'm doing...before the heat starts up!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it!

ReplyDeleteGlad you think so.
DeleteHow lovely! As we transition into autumn, you slip into spring. 💜
ReplyDeleteAlways fascinating to me that half the world is having the exact opposite season from what I'm experiencing here.
DeleteQuick! Dance with her now! Will do!
ReplyDeleteGood! Have fun!
DeleteDance in the warmth while you can. Summer is near end here.
ReplyDeleteOur summers get too hot for dancing, so Spring is the best chance.
DeleteOh yes, Rosemary! My toes are tapping already, here in NZ. :D
ReplyDeleteHa, as we dance we can imagine each other doing it too 'across the ditch'.
DeleteSpring does flirt! Lovely cinquain.
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you agree.
DeleteA delightful cinquain, Rosemary…spring can be such a tease!! -lynn
DeleteThanks, Lynn.
DeleteI love the feeling of spring... which is still months away.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are in opposite hemispheres of course. I also love autumn, so I hope you are enjoying yours now.
DeleteYou captured the joy of spring beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love this form. It's a little amuse bouche! And it makes me long for winter, just so it can be over and welcome spring next year, hee hee hee.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely way to describe this form. Glad you enjoyed it, Amy. Nice to connect with you after so long!
DeleteQuick! I like the urgency in the poem. Yes, only now counts. So be quick. And spring is generally over much to soon. So quick, get to it. Thanks. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cheery comment!
