We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

Complaint

My fingers
cannot grasp
with feeling –

tingling, numb.
A pinched nerve
in my neck?

The doctor
can see me
in four days.

Another for Fussy Little Forms: Tricube at 'imaginary garden with real toads'. (Yes, this one is autobiographical, I am irritated to say. But pleased to note how well the form lends itself to the topic/mood.)

  1. sorry you're off the fingering mark - and that it is so troublesome - hopefully it will be nothing serious, and you'll be able to recover easily and quickly ...
and quite right, this form can lend to mood emphasis really easily ... as she punctuates her thoughts with clipped words ...

(I know the feeling, I have 2 herniated discs in my neck and it causes me no end of finger-numbed grief, etc. - pain in the patootie!)

  2. I'm sorry this is happening to you, Rosemary. There is nothing very speedy within the medical system. Generally in due time they get things fixed. But if things are life threatening they seem to shorten the wait times.
Here is too a speedier fix for you. I will pray also.

  5. I am so sorry to hear. Pain is not always easy to deal with. Hopefully it will take residence somewhere else. And you will be fit as a fiddle.

  6. Oh man, this is a perfect little poem, I just love it. It made me LOL at the end, just perfect! But I am sorry to hear you are having nerve pain. Get better! (Cool that these kinds of human pains bring good poems, honestly!)

  8. Well, darn... It is a precise statement of your problem, but the doctor never seems to be in a hurry.

  9. Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I got a cancellation to see my doctor earlier and now have to have an MRI scan of cervical spine.

  10. I hope you feel better soon. I've had some similar symptoms that I've attributed to hurting my back last week but I've been putting off seeing a doctor purely because of the hassle that comes with booking an appointment. Some of the symptoms have eased off as well so I just feel like I'm being silly if I go in and say 'this hurt'. 'Well yes you got thrown into the ground doing a sport that is predominately hurling each other across a mat.'
