We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

Again

Again

Cannot grasp –
four days
in tingling, numb happiness!

Now that you
are with me once more,
can see me,
I find out my heart.

My fingers can be
very calm in touch,
although deep with feeling.

A cut-and-paste of two banal little pieces on different topics, which I've now discarded.

  1. Perhaps four days are enough? Yes, "deep with feeling."

  3. "Calm in touch"/ "deep in feeling" paints such a vivid picture. You can see the outwardly calm caress but hear the increase in the heartbeat as the subject realizes they are with their beloved at last.

  4. Fingers deep with feeling is a lovely way of seeing it. Tender and sweet, Rosemary.

  9. How cool is that. I never heard of cut and paste like that. Moving in as much as I can feel the joy radiating. Great piece!!!

  10. sometimes the effects of plucking and choosing from different sources within our own bits and baubles results in startling results - which is the case here; I mean, this is simple, and yet it is compelling, a light finger dance that zings with the electrical undercurrent of excitement, yet a certain outwardly calm presence too. And I really like the tone, the voice of the line "I find out my heart." This line is very particular for its suggestion and curiosity; I think it is an exceptional line and really is just so perfectly placed within this poem. Lovely Rosemary. :)
