We who with songs beguile your pilgrimage / And swear that Beauty lives though lilies die, / We Poets of the proud old lineage / Who sing to find your hearts, we know not why ... (James Elroy Flecker)

Accessing the Eternal

Accessing the Eternal

(Found poems, from online sharing in a Landmark Education 'Wisdom Course')

Looking at the first
camellia of the season
is heart-stoppingly beautiful,
magnificent every time.

There is just silence.
Nothing can describe it.
It's the most perfect
thing in the universe.

************

When I hear
the high note
in Nessun Dorma
the world stops
the universe opens.

  4. The joy and wonder evoked by some moments can never be perfectly described, but... we sure try, don't we? I can certainly imagine the beauty of the feeling... through the words.

  5. Speaking as a singer, I find high notes are a field unto themselves. There is so little room for error in making them--It is a 100% commitment every time--that is why they are so thrilling--perfect or not--love these--especially the camellia.

  8. Lovely! It seems to me, the most perfect things in the universe are either accompanied by the most perfect sound …. or none at all.

  10. These moments are of such extraordinary quality that they make us take a pause and pay attention. How it seems that the universe opens for us through this medium is beautiful. That's a lovely way of putting it, Rosemary! :-)
