On hot days, it's evening
when I open both doors. Cool air
floats inside, soothing my skin.
On days of rain and thunder,
bedtime’s best: I snuggle
indoors, warm and safe.
On busy days, the best time
is after dinner. I shrug off
duties, responsibilities; relax.
On lazy, self-indulgent days,
restored, I come alive at night
to dream or plan … in the nurturing dark.
Written for Poets and Storytellers United in response to Friday Writings #211: Write about the time of day you like best, and why. I have written a number of times already about my preference for the night hours, so I thought I'd look at the question differently. However ...
Great I can feel the breeze soothing the skin and I love to snuggle up on days of rain as well

DeleteNice take on the prompt, Rosemary. 👏
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love that there are favourite types of day for both the external weather and internal feeling it passes on! Jae
ReplyDeleteThank you for this acute comment.
DeleteI feel those times too. I like dusk when the sun is low and the light paints a mystical glow.
ReplyDeleteLovely! A poetic comment.
DeleteIt's complicated. Your words remind me that time is not an island and that what feels best depends on circumstances. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed part of what I hoped to convey.
DeleteEvery season with its comforts
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteIt all depends upon the KIND of day, doesn't it? Fine respond to a cool prompt. Thanks
ReplyDeleteTo some extent, certainly.
DeleteGood use of your time, I reckon.
ReplyDeleteInteresting comment, implying it's not so much the time as the way one uses it. Thank you.
Deletea gentle reminder that both time or place are transparent as clear water ... it takes the colour and the shape of the people around.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully understood and sweetly expressed.
DeleteDifferent times for different purposes makes sense. I like "bedtime's best" (the alliteration, anyway).
ReplyDeleteThank you.
