our world
more and more
authoritarian
we look away
yet a man creates
a new kind of school
based in democracy
a woman writer advises
keep responding to light
Sharing this with Friday Writings #137: "begin by doing small things" at Poets and Storytellers United. This wasn't written for that prompt, but seems to fit.
May there always be a woman offering light - I hope you are feeling better - Jae
ReplyDeleteThank you Jae. Yes I am feeling quite a lot better by now.
DeleteIn the thick of it. What muscles will be strengthened. What insights will be lit.
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's certainly something to brear in mind!

DeleteJim here -- "more and more authoritarian" yet ... The lines that hit me the hardest, seems I'm not alone. Thank you, Jim
ReplyDelete..
Well, I wrote that before the British election, which seems to have bucked the world-wide trend. The balance always swings back, we are told ... I hope it hurries up.
Delete"Keep responding to light"...This is a most desired close when there's a word like 'authoritarian' taking its position. Love this succinct poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rosemary for your kind appreciation on my blog.
I do enjoy reading you, Sumana.
DeleteGlad you are feeling a little better Rosemary. Yes the world is becoming more fascist except it is not as noticeable without the clicking of heels, salutes and uniforms. A history tends to repeat itself...Good reason for making history compulsory in the schools. ...Rall
ReplyDeleteGosh, is it not compulsory any more? Wow!
DeleteYes - Keep responding to the light - There is always hope in tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteLet us never lose hope , and may your light shine always Rosemary
ReplyDeleteThank you for that lovely wish, Jossina – indeed, for both of them.
DeleteIndeed, indeed it does fit!! And if we are fortunate we will have a woman leading us soon here in the US of A.
ReplyDeleteMay it be so, and may she be the leader needed.
DeleteGlad you are feeling better. We all need the light.
ReplyDeleteThanks. And yes!
